Game Controller Problem

I have a USB game controller (a real cheap one) designed for the MAC but
works with PC's. Anyway my problem is it looks like a PS2 controller and
the left analog controller was assigned to the x/y axis of movement and the
digital pad was assigned to the point of view hat by XP. This setting is
incompatible with what I want to use it for b/c the software cannot
recognize analog movement. Is there anyway to switch the two or possibly
disable the analog function thru XP?
 
This function is usually accomplished via the gamepads software. Did any software come with it that is XP compatible?
 
No it didn't...the only software it came with was Mac compatible. It had a
single blurb on the box about being compatible with the PC and that it what
I looked at.
