I am doing some modifications on an access database for
one of my clients. I have copied the mdb datafile and also
the mdw file to my computer, but I cannot seem to gain
access to the data tables.
The tables were created in Access2000, and I am using
AccessXP. I can join the workgrroup, and even get into
the accounts and users section to modify the permissions,
but every time I try to open the datafile, I cannot see
the tables. What is the proceedure for gainning access to
the database.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello

What do you mean by "I cannot see the tables" ?
if u mean that you can't open them, maybe you should try
to login as their creator.

Maybe the problem comes from the fact you're using XP. I
think microsoft advises to re-create the workgroup file
using Access Xp and then update the databases. But for
that you will need the name/ompany/WID your client used to
create the file

Jad,
When I open the database, there is only a limited menu of
File, Window and Help, no tables, only queries.
I don't know the WID, but I could get it, where or how do
you enter it? When you do tools->security and join a work
group, it only asks you to point to the mdw you want to
join, where would you enter the WID??
thanks for your help

Joan,
No, there is not Tools, Options or any of that good stuff.
The menu items are File(->Search and Exit), Window
(Standard menu item) and Help.
