Dear all

The network is good and printing good....

A quick query.....

I have realised that when I have my lappy with me (as I did today) I can't get into the documents that are on the new M drive which the expert mapped (for obvious reasons).

How do I create access to the documents on the M drive so I can access them when out and about...... or can't I?

Love

You'll probably find the "M" drive is actually the other PC ... ;)

Save anything you need when out & about to the C drive. :thumb:

Drive mapping is nothing more than assigning a drive letter to a remote share. Because the drive letter is local, the remote resource appears in My Computer and Windows Explorer as if it were a local resource, letting you access the remote share much more quickly than you can by typing the shared folder's Universal Naming Convention (UNC) name or browsing the network for the folder.
Which basically means ... you have easy access to the other system.

(when connected to it)

:)

I am sorry Mucks, I made a bit of a hash of my question.

I do understand the M drive bit + yes you are right , it lives on the desktop and then lappy connects via the network. Thank you for your answer - save to C drive. I thought that was probably the case but didn't want to look a prat!!! :-)

Haven't heard that in a while ... no, I can think of a few 'prats' we have visiting the forums, but not you dear Lady.

;)

'Up North' when you think you've made a faux pas you fear being (or being called) a prat/a right prat/a complete prat etc.... there's levels of prat-ness and sometimes I encompass the whole spectrum of prat land :-)
