Hi peeps,

How are we all? Good I hope!

Merry Christmas, hope you all had a goodone and stuff ;)

Just a quick question really. I am upgrading nxt few weeks, however the above m/b seems to be very hard to get hold of at present. It seems to be selling out very very quickly, I think the main reason being it is to my knowledge the only dual PCI-E board available at the moment. Getting back to my original question. Does anyone know of anywhere that is currently stocking them? Microdirect are out til end of Jan, Scan URGH YUKK and same for DABS @%$##

If u get my point!

Another thing cant seem to find any info about the FSB or the CPU capabilities.

Anyone help?

Trip

Yep i do. I have had nothing but continual problems with both Dabs and Scan. They were absolutely awful on after sales help and returns. Once they had sold the items they didnt care about anything, and were not preparred to help me out. I vowed never to use them again. And wrote them a mail telling them so..

PITIFUL

I have heard of people having problems with Dabs & Scan to be honest, but I must be lucky cos I've never had problems with them. I've done one RMA with Scan, none with Dabs.

Have a look at this thread: Micro Direct Disgrace for several points of view on this company.

A sample quote from that thread:

The moral of the story is to NEVER ever ever ever, not in a million years, use www.microdirect.co.uk ! If you do, your either mentally impaired, or impaired mentally!
Look, I'm not trying to put you down, just trying to save you grief, OK?

And no, I don't know of any places stocking that board atm, sorry.

Leaving who your going to buy from, and I for one would not buy from "them", why do you think that is the only gF4 PCI-E board on the market ... and why do you think it's 'dual' PCI-E ???

MSI have one Asus have one and none will take 2 PCI-E 16x cards ... even if they could it would not work.

I've had this conversation before ... you need to do some more research.

Quoting my self I did say TO MY KNOWLEDGE. Unfortunately I dont have time to go dredging through the depths of the internet to find this out. All the searchs I hav done hav only brought me to the one board. I also only prefer Gigabyte and ABIT boards. And if i'm not mistaken the specs for the board DOES allow 2x PCI-E cards in SLI configuration to be fitted. Maybe you should go read up on it too my friend. Yours was not the response I was asking for. Maybe your sig does fit your personality.

You better make time ... and do a little more reading. But it seems you know more.

Luck be with you. ;)

From that Gigabyte board's specs:

NVIDIA SLI Multi-GPU support
NVIDIA nForce4 SLI offer blistering graphics performance with the ability to bridge two NVIDIA SLI-ready PCI Express™ graphics cards! The SLI design takes advantage of the increased bandwidth of the PCI Express™ bus architecture, features hardware and software innovations within NVIDIA GPU (graphics processing unit) and the NVIDIA nForce4 chipset. Together, the NVIDIA SLI technologies work seamlessly to allow two graphics cards to operate in parallel and share the work and deliver heart-pounding PC performance. NVIDIA SLI is the best solution for driving Multi GPU system performance to experience earth-shattering game play.

It would appear to be so.

But, for myself, I wasn't questioning that. My only advice was avoid Micro Direct.

FWIW, about the only few suppliers I trust are:

Kustom PC's - The best.

Overclock.co.uk - very good, they have integrity and they respond to your queries.

CCL - They've got a lot better than they were a few years ago. I trust them (to a degree ;) )

All my opinions are based upon personal experience, nothing else.

I too, favour Gigabyte & Abit boards, but my favourite atm must be DFI boards.

Ty for clarifying that for me.....
Altho I say I'm not sure how the -9 appeared on thread title. It should have been -SLI
