I am a support technician. A user had an issue with Sametime meetings and I
tracked it to the fact that IE6 would not check to see if it was default. I
tried forcing it to do so, tried reinstalling and finally used the IE Fix
tool off the MVPS site. Finally as a last ditch effort I turned off the
Merriam Webster Toolbar and voila! I did notify MW site and thought I would
post here as an FYI.

Hi Barb,

Thanks for posting.

What was the result of using IEFix? Did the problem persist even after rebooting?

Ramesh,
After the IE Fix tool and a reboot IE STILL refused to ask to be default. It
was not until I shut off the MW toolbar through view/toolbars ( couldn't find
and uninstall ), closed IE and then when I opened it, it finally asked. Since
the offending toolbar is from a reputable company I am hoping they will
respond to my email and look to fix it.
