I recently joined these MS.private groups to gain some
defender insight. I've been helping a neighbor(Arrrgh!!)
with something called "Pesttrap", that he picked up .

Apparently, based on my research, PT is quite prevalent,
and widely known. It's a nasty little piece of junk that
seems to attack those with minimal understanding, and
hold their system hostage in hopes of a purchased sub-
scription.

So, although these groups are not generally searchable,
I'm simply reporting that defender seems to have neut-
ralized pesttrap. I still have to run a defender deep scan
to dig up anything else I can find, but PT seems eradic-
ated by defender, where others had failed earlier.

Thanks, for the help....

Thanks very much for this report, Gary. Support groups such as these often
seem to focus on the shortcomings or problems with a given application.
It's nice to hear the positives mentioned!
