fuzzy images IE

I get fuzzy inames when using IE 6 but if I right click and select
"show original image" it becomes fine. I have seen quite a few
dissussions on this subject but have not found a fix for my problem
which has just started for seemingly no reason. Around the same time I
installed service pack 2 for XP so thought that it could be this so
uninstalled this but made not difference. I also thought that it could
be to do with Morpheus the file sharing software but unistalling this
made no differece. Have tried doing a hundred and one things with
internet options / advanced to no avail. I have had this Sony Vaio
laptop for nearly a year and all has been fine till a few days ago.
There seem to be lots of people out there who have talked about the
same problem but have not read any posts where anyone has said what
fixed the issue... Please please can some one help... BTW images are
fine when I use firefox...

Try the following and see if it helps:

First - Do you have an accelerator supplied by your ISP? If so, try turning
it off.
It works by reducing image size (and therefor quality) for downloads.

Try clearing the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and
delete offline content.)

Fuzzy images in IE SP1 - go to the following registry key:

Thanks for this post - strangely after struggling with this for over a
week I found out about this "accelerator" just minutes before I read
your post. I had heard of it before but did not know what it meant.

For anyone else out there - it is a bit of software that is meant to
speed up your internet surfing - I got it a while ago and all was fine
but then cleared cache and loaded up service pack 2... So when looked
at sites that I look at regularly it suddenly had to go get the images
and they came back fuzzy, and since things had seemed fine for weeks
after loading this accelerator software did not even consider this...

But it was this that has caused all the hassle and to be honest I have
not notices any real difference in surfing speed - if the images are
meant for the web (as most sites images are) and this things gives you
a small percentage saving on a small number the results in terms of
time saved are not noticable but the loss in image quality if huge.

With my software which is ONSPEED when you click the icon at the
bottom right of the screen (next to the time) and then go to settings
the first thing you see is a slider to increase / reduce image quality
----- Hurray!!!!! Your problem goes away!!!!!

SOO no need to remove service packs, or other software etc etc -
infact I was considering wiping the had drive and reloading XP and
start all over!!!!
