My Registered Organization is now [fuZzion] software
My Registered Owner is now [fuZzion]

A web search turns up only a reference to the same problem in a May, 2006
Spybot forum posting, but there was no followup.

No problems reported by Defender, Avast, or AdAware.

Does anyone have any further information?
Should I take any action?

I see a lot of references to fuzzion as a musical group. What music has
been played on your system lately?

Mostly Baroque and Classical. Right now a Vivaldi violin concerto, Mintz.
I've never played anything by fuzzion.

By the way, you commended Mr. Knox's scripts on another thread. He has a
script to fix these fields:

http://www.dougknox.com/index.html

It's called XP-ChangeOwnerOrg.

If fuzzion is harmless, I'll change the references.

I've seen this kind of change occasionally on a system--one that I saw had a
phrase from Nietzsche buried in a registry string . We couldn't find any
sign of malware involved--in the end, we decided it was basically a harmless
prank of some kind, and left it alone.

If you've done a check for rootkits--I recommend the blacklight beta from
f-secure--and a good antivirus and spyware scan, then I think I'd fix it via
the scripts and not worry about it.

You might consider who else has access to your system, though--this isn't
just a random mutation--this change happened somehow--even if nothing
malicious was involved or intended.

Ran Blacklight and didn't find anything. By the way, the beta program is
said to expire October 1st. Any recommendation if Blacklight is unavailable?

Used the scripts and changed the entries hours ago. No recurrence.

Family members are on none of the malware lists, despite the infestations
caused. ;-)

F-secure has extended the beta deadlines for many months now. sysinternals
rootkitrevealer is an alternative, but requires some care in interpreting
results, especially on servers.

May you and the rest of the family remain bug free!
