When I switched on my pc this AM it blow main plug fuse during start up.I
replaced fuse and same occured.I suppose it a hardware problem but what the
most likely culprit?I can disconnect the rom drives, floppy and second hard
drive. Is there something elso I should disconnect before I run out of fuses.

To what "main plug fuse" do you refer? Are you talking about your electrical
service?

Blowing fuses immediately upon the application of electricity generally
indicates a direct short.
The only thing in a PC that draws amperage sufficient to burn a fuse is the
Power Supply.

If your power supply has, indeed, burned itself into a direct short to your
electrical service, I have little doubt that all hardware in your case is
fried.

power supply is 240 volt(Ireland) and we have fuse in the plug.I disconnectd
the drives and had the same problem. Then disconnected the main drive and
used the slave to boot and it booted ok.Reconnected all devices including
main drive as slave and backed it up.Now running maxtor utilities to check
it.
