Hi everyone
Thanks for the help/suggestions given in my last post about removing
SP3 (not an option really) and posting in forrum (not enough time I'm
afraid !) so I am just going to comment on yet ANOTHER problem with
SP3 !
I have 2 desktops and also have SP3 on my HP laptop too now, once
again an automatic update !
The 2 Desktops are using XP Pro, whilst the laptop uses XP Home.
All THREE computers exhibit this problem and all have differnet
programs on them for different purposes of course .....
So what exactly is this problem ?
Well, when using Windows Explorer it freezes (locks up) and the only
way to 'release' it is to use the old "Cntrl, Alt + Delete" !
When you do this, it does unlock Windows Explorer but the desktop is
cleared of ALL icons and you just can't do anything !
You then have to do "Cntrl, Alt + Delete" again and tell it to reboot.
Even worse is that rather than automatically fully shut down (as it
used to before SP3) you have to individually close 2-4 programs
manually to get it to reboot, otherwise it just 'hangs' !
For this to happen on THREE different computers, makes me think it is
a BUG in SP3 ..... or is this M$'s way of getting me to but the even
worse OS ..... Vista ?????
All I can do really is "hang in there" in the remote hope that
Microsoft will issue another update to solve this problem !
But at the moment all 3 computers are having to be rebooted on a
regular basis now .... remindes me of Windows ME !
Regards,
Steve
