I have a microsoft natural keyboard. On this keyboard it
has a lock to turn on/off the function keys. When I boot I
would like to have this turn on right away because it is
difficult to use the function keys to get into safe boot
etc being that I have to first turn the keys on with the
function key lock. Is there a regestry edit or some other
way I can do this?

Thanks,

Jera

It's hardwired into the keyboard. Press and hold the F-lock key and then
press F8.

Some more info about F-lock and some tools for adjusting it once Windows
has loaded: http://www.mvps.org/jtsang/flock.html

Some good info but I am sure that if I continue looking I
will find the answer I am looking for.

The F Lock key is a hardware switch.
You can't control it or save its state programmatically.

You can keep searching, however, the above are the plain and underlying
facts to what the F Lock key is on MS keyboards.

You may have the same problem I experienced with the Microsoft Office
Keyboard with it hooked up via USB. I had to uninstall it and reinstall it
using the PS2 adapter since USB does not function until Windows loads which
is too late to use the F8 key to access Safe Mode.

A registry edit (such as the one I have at
http://mvps.org/jtsang/flock.html) won't work before windows loads.

There is no workaround, you'll have to enable F Lock to hit the F8 button.

If your motherboard doesn't properly support legacy ps/2 keyboard for USB
devices, then you will have to hook it up via the PS/2 port.
