Hey, anybody know of any cartoon, or funny clip art? I'm looking for stuff
that's in the public domain... something to spice up a dull presentation.

Stuff like the Far Side stuff, Dilbert, etc. is all good (but it's
copyrighted, right)

Personally I find most audiences are immune to clip art so I tend to use
animated Gifs and there are several sites which offer some free. Try:
http://www.webarrow.net/graphics/animation/bodyparts/ or
http://www.animfactory.com/ or even
http://www.clipart.co.uk/html/animfact.shtml

Also worth trying http://www.a1freesoundeffects.com/household.html for a few
different sounds!

I get the best laughs when I pretend that the presentation has a life of its
own that I can't quite control. The animated gifs can really help there.
i.e. animate, wait for laugh, look round at screen whilst removing source of
laughter, ask why laughing and repeat.

Good presenting!

John

Good stuff - thanks!

I find that a Dilbert or a Far Side can really grab your audience's
attention - but what I'm working in now isn't for "private use", so I can't
use those popular comics.

The New Yorker has good comics, and you can purchase copyrights/pay usage
fees online -- and they're fairly inexpensive. Just thought I'd toss that
out in case you're looking for those kinds of comics.

Have you tried contacting the owners of these strips?
They might be willing to give you permission to use
them. Copyright means you need permission, not that
everything is off limits.
