Function Displays Function, Not Result

I may have erroneously set a switch in Excel. When I
enter a function Excel displays the result in the the
function cell instead of the result. In the past it was
displaying the results of the function as it should. This
occurs in all workbooks, so it appears to be a universal
setting in Excel.

Thanks

Auk,

That did it. Thanks so much, I did a lot of searching
through help before I posted my question.

And then re-enter the formulas, which can easily be done by Finding all "="
and replace them all with "="

YW Egan,

What wonders me however is : you mentioned that it occured in all your
workbooks.
This however is a "setting" per cell or (might be) per sheet.

How did you manage to set all your cells in all sheet in all your workbooks
to set to Text. ????

It's not important but it puzzles me a bit.
