See if you can fabricate a plausible explanation for this:
I recently purchased something online, from the "XYZ" company. I recall
getting a "Thanks for your order" e-mail from them, and a "Your item has
shipped" e-mail, too. And just now, I needed to refer to that receipt. I
know I would've stored both of those e-mails in my "Online Purchases"
folder, so I looked in there. Couldn't find 'em. So I did a search for
"xyzcompany.com" throughout my entire "Local Folders" (thinking that perhaps
I'd stored them in the wrong folder) ... but nothing showed up.
Then, remembering what a sturdy search capability this new Vista computer
has, I searched for "xyzcompany.com" from Windows, and guess what it
found??? It found those two e-mails, LOCATED IN MY "Online Purchases"
FOLDER. I went back to WinMail to see how I could've possible overlooked
them ... but they WEREN'T THERE.
So I went back to my Index search, and without expecting this to WORK, I
double-clicked on both of these e-mails, and FORWARDED them to myself. And
THIS WORKED. I now have two new e-mails in my Inbox and in my Sent Items
folders.
So, I guess I should be thrilled about this magical recovery, but I'm just
scared. Anybody wanna guess what the hell just happened?
Gratefully,
Bill
