Full System Scan

One started at noon today - automatically shut off thw CPU and 6 hours and 46
minutes later - the power light is on the CPU but nothing can be done with
the computer. It makes no noise - very unusual, How many days should a scan
take?
 
The WD defender full scan is highly CPU intensive. The BIOS on your computer
has probably detected a high thermal value and shutdown your computer. This
problem usually occurs on laptop computers. If this is a laptop, make sure
that the cooling vents are clean and unobstructed. If so, you may have to
buy and install a laptop cooling device. Also check that the laptop fan(s)
are functioning correctly and the CPU heatsink is securely mounted. Similar
conductions apply to desktop computers. In general my rule of thumb is that
the CPU temp should not exceed 140 degress F.
