Anita A.

I bought a new computer in Nov 2003 & it came with
Windows XP HE. Up until that point I'd been using
Windows 98 SE. I'm getting used to XP now but I have a
problem with BackWeb. It's exe program will not
initiate. I've contacted HP and they've told me to do a
non-destructive recovery of the program. As I
understand, it will only wipe out any 3rd party programs
that I have added but will leave all the data files
intact. I use PSP a lot and have tons of gif's, jpg's,
tubes, filters, gradients, etc. I also have other things
on there that are valuable to me. Just in case something
happens and there is data loss I'd like to have a system
back-up. HP gave me a link to some 3rd party back-up
programs. I was searching this sight and see that XP
comes with a back-up program that you have to manually
install. Has anyone used this program and will it do
what I need? Has anyone had to do a non-destructive
recovery? Any help or suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

That just about sums up hp and thier knowlege of xp,give them a tota
zero for support, third party vendors ? In XP you can use back-up,its in tool
on the xp cd for home upgrade, however the best way is to use file transfe
wizard, set current computer as old, transfer the files to a folder that yo
create,when its thru,copy folder to a cd.It doesnt save xp system data,but i
saves all yours,jpegs,music tracks,sounds,etc...

Thanks for the information. I think I'll choose to do it
the file transfer wizard way. Appreciate your time.
Have a great New Year.
