Full Scan is interrupted by Microsoft Remote Assistance?

Does anybody have an issue with the Windows Defender's Full Scan feature.
When the full scan is initiated, it scans through until it hangs and
basically times out at the Microsoft Remote Assistance program:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rcimlby.exe

If you have a solution to this (that means not deleting it :P), please reply
to this post.

Thank You.

Hello Scott,

I think you may have to work at excluding it from the scan, as an interim
measure. Tools, general settings, scroll down to advance settings, and hit
the add button.

I hope this post is helpful.

Yes it worked. Now the only downside of this Windows Defender is that it
takes a LONG time to make a full scan. Last night while I was asleep, I just
left the computer on to scan, it took 7:58:02 and I only have 50GB/180GB on
my computer.

Hi Scott,

Make a Restore Point.

http://www.ccleaner.com/downloadbuilds.asp
Ccleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com
Note, When you install Ccleaner, uncheck the Yahoo toolbar option.
Note, in Options, Settings, Advanced, uncheck - Only delete files in Windows
folders older than 48 hours.
Note: uncheck Windows Defender in the applications.

Open Ccleaner and press "Windows" "Aplications" and run Cleaner from the
menu choose 'Issues' and then press scan for issues, Repair any fºund.

Run twice Ccleaner, the same as above, until you get “0 bytes to be removedâ€.

Run chkdsk /r

Scan your computer now online and clean it for free!

Look for the broom Clean up, also Tune Up..

Done.

I would recommend what the Help for the product recommends: Do quickscans,
and do a fullscan if something is detected.

The quickscan works backwards from memory content and startup items, and is
intended to catch 100% of active in-place spywªre.

If you read the Help in Windows Defender, it recommends a daily quickscan,
and a fullscan only when something is found on the quickscan.

Good luck

Under Tools->Options->Advanced options, uncheck the box for scanning
archived files and folders. Archived files are zip, rar, etc. Malwalre in
archived format can't hurt you until it is "unzipped so to speak". I think
you might find a dramatic decrease in your full scan times.

As far as CCleaner ... download the slim-version so you don't have to muck
with Yahoo Toolbar.

For automatic, use the Advanced | Add under Options and specify drives and
folders NOT to scan

On the main Windows Defender screen you should see various Icons (e.g. Scan).
Click the Tools Icon. Next you should see a Gear Icon (Options). On the
initial release of WD it was called General Settings. Click Options. Now
scroll down to Advanced Options. Now uncheck the box - scan the contents of
archived files and folders. Save the change. Now click the down arrow next
to Scan and select Full Scan. Before you do any of this, verify that your
scan engine is at Version 1.1.1441.0 To find the Version number click the
down arrow to the right of the WD help ?. Click About Windows Defender. If
you are not at 1.1.1441.0, then this is probably why you are running into
problems during your scans. If you are at 1.1.1441.0, go ahead and run the
full scan and still keep the exclusion entry from before.
