"Full Name" field

For some reason, some of my contacts are displayed with the last name first
and others with the first name first under the "Full Name" field.

How can I get correct this?
 
Have you been paying attention to the option you set for the Full Name field
in Tools > Options > Preferences > Contact Options?
Outlook does what you tell it to.
 
This is most likely because the default view sorts contacts as "Display As"

which is a field that allows you to choose how they are listed on a per
contact basis..

You should be able to edit any contact and pull down a drop-down and pick
how you would like to "File" it..

Most likely you are syncing with a PDA which contacts from that will come a
crossed sorted differently than contacts created in Outlook..

Yes, under contact options the default "full name" order is set to first
(middle) last.

Yet some of my contacts show the last name first under "full name", while
other contacts show the first name first.

The data in the first and last name fields is correct.

What else can I do?

Parse the names elements in these Contacts manually and see if that fixes
it.
