Bob

I am having a problem remote connection to one certain computer in a remote
workgroup. I have port 3389 enabled to the correct computer but can not
connect. I have no problem if I change 3389 to forward to a different
computer.

One thing I have noticed is in
My Computer
Properties
Remote

Where it should display 'Full Computer Name" there is no name only a
question make (?)

Any thoughts?

Thanks, B

Have you actually named the PC? Go to the "Computer Name" tab and click on
the "Change" button at the bottom. You can also call using the PCs local LAN
IP. Note when calling from a remote site you need to use the public IP of
any firewall/router that PC is behind.

I have named it, renamed it, changed the workgroup, etc. All works fine
including NetBIOS. I wonder why the question marked remains there in ONLY
that display in Remote Tab Window.

Has this just started happening? If so, have you tried going back to a
restore point prior to this happening?

Actually this is the 1st I have tried Remote Desktop with this computer and
I do not use system restore. I feel it may be something in the TCP/IP stack,
but repairing that does nothing. I looked in the registry for a setting for
the name and found nothing, the question mark really has me baffled..
