Hi all,

I have Vista 64bit installed on drive C:. When I go to Full Computer backup
the Drive D: is also automatically selected and there is no way of
deselecting it. In the list in parenthesis it shows it as (System) even
though that drive is clearly NOT a system drive.

Is there ANY way to disable this drive from being backed up because with it
being 1TB in size and almost full - I definitely do not want to be backing it
up.

I just wish to create a nice clean Full computer backup of my Vista 64bit
Installation.

Yea I could use that but sincerely nothing restores Vista faster to my drive
than it's own Restore from the CD. That's why I wish to make a backup with
it...

I do not understand, I understand very little anyways
you speek of full full backup
When I go for backup on my vista 32 bit home basic desktop
It says
Only files on NTFS Disk can be backed up.
System files, Executable files and temporary files will not be backed up
these are optional or can be checked or unchecked

T V shows
Compressed files
Additional files
The anwsers givin seemed to differ from the many post I"v read
just a comment

You CAN deselect the drives. It offers me to deselect the other 2 hard drives
I have, but not the ones I mentioned.

Vista gives you no option except "full computer backup" . That is why you cannot deselect any drive at all.
That is why it is called a "full computer backup"

It sounds like Peconi is talking about "Complete PC Backup," which
*does* allow one to specify which drives are to be backed up, although
the system partition *must* be one of them.

That's exactly what I'm talking about but my system shows 2 as System
partition - which is not true ... I guess I'll just have to reinstall Vista
or something.

If you system drive is C, but it insists on incorrectly showing D as
your system drive instead, I have no idea what you can do about it, nor
can I imagine why it is misidentifying the system drive. I have never
seen (nor heard of) such a problem, but my experience with Complete PC
Backup has been limited to only two computers. There may be nothing that
can be done about it short of reinstalling Windows Vista. But hopefully,
someone with more experience in this area than I have will come along to
help.

Since your subject line appears to be throwing folks off the true nature
of your problem, perhaps you should try starting over again with a whole
new thread, calling it, instead, something like:
"Complete PC Backup misidentifies my system drive"

Well it does NOT misidentify my drive. I am just seeing 2 drives being shown
as SYSTEM, instead of one and then I cannot deselect the other one from the
backup.
