What level of IE? How are you "trying to access" your ftp site?

I'm using windows ME

"Accessing" as in dragging files into the explorer window
to upload files.

When I type in the address in the format of
ftp://username:p[email protected]. I get the ftp root of
that site.etc. not my account.

FTP Folders is included with the Internet Explorer Browsing Enhancements feature in Internet Explorer 5.x, which is installed
only when you select a full or typical installation.

Do you know what kind of install you have?
Perhaps if it is Minimal you wouldn't have it?

Check to see if you have msieftp.dll and if so what are its properties.

See this article for further information along that line.

(MSKB Boolean search for
"FTP folders" AND kbieWinMEsearch
)

BTW the method that you are using to specify your password is not
recommended. Once you open the ftp site *without* a password
do you have a Login As... menu item in the File menu?
