Hi,
I'm wanting to move my sites over to a new server before I change the IP
addresses. Can I use ftp in front page? If so, I have several sites and
when I put in the ip address, it doesn't ask me for a user or pw, so I don't
want to over write the files of other sites?
Or how can i use Publish to upload files to the new server?

Your new host should have given you instructions.

Why not publish back to your hard disk? Choose a different folder for each
site.

They will then all be available to publish to your new server.

As to whether to use ftp, experts may have to answer here, but I would think
that if the site you are coying *from* is a site with FPSE, then don't use
ftp.

Of course, another way may be to use an FTP transfer program outside FP and
transfer everything from each site - including special folders - from the
server to the folder on your hard disk. One such FTP transfer program is
Windows Explorer.

How do I use explorer to ftp? I do have fp extensions

Lisa,
It's possible that this only works with an ftp site,

I use this URL in the address bar - well actually in a shortcut, but it
works in either place
ftp://ftp.homemail.com.au/

As you can see, this is similar to the domain of my website address (see my
signature). My ISP address is http:///www.homemail.com.au/ - although this
redirects to another address (https://secure.actewagl.com.au/isp/)

The first time I opened the site (as ftp://ftp.homemail.com.au/), I was
asked for my username and password, as set by my host. Windows stored this,
so for second and subsequent times, I no longer need to enter it.

Anyway, SIAS (suck it and see - a good Aussie saying)

If you have fp extensions, don't use ftp.
