I am trying to connect to an FTP server that is on an IBM
z/OS ver. 1.3 system. The IBM system is accessible via my
intranet from my own PC,which is running WINDOWS XP
PROFESSIONAL.
I can already connect to the z/OS IBM mainframe using a
free-ware FTP client that I downloaded from the Internet.
I can connect to the mainframe using a secure connection
and I use TLS/SSL to do it. I cannot do this from my C
drive on windows.When I attempt to ftp using a secure
port, I only get as far as the banner page of the server
and then I get the message:
534 Server requires authentication before USER cmd
Why is this happening and, if this is a setup/config
issue, what are the steps necessary to do a secure FTP
SSL/TLS connection with an z/OS IBM mainframe?
