I downloaded Titan ftp so that acf members can get the ISO. Can anyone help
me figure out what address to post so that acf members can take this from my
computer? I am a novice at ftp, so please be patient and thorough.

Take a visit to...

http://www.petri.co.il/what's_my_ip_address.htm :-)

Then give that address to people who want to download from you.

Keep in mind that if you do not have a static IP address then you will
need to let people know your IP every time you logon.

Regards, John.

I'm not familiar with Titan FTP myself (I use BulletProof FTP Server (not
freeware, but worth the fee IMHO - www.bpftpserver.com)) but basically,
you'll need to tell the server;

1. Which port you wish to use
2. Whether or not you want users to be restricted to PASV*
3. The "home" IP address (my server has an "all available" option, but
should be your internet IP address)
4. The user/group that has access to the server
5. Whether or not those specified in #4 must use a username/password **
6. The files/folders that are available to those specified in #4
7. The upload/download/modify permissions

* If PASV mode is specified you will additionally need to specify the IP
associated with it
** A username at the least is reccomended (this associates it with this
account, instead of the default account)

If you're also going to be running it via HTTP, I'd be more than happy to
send you the script I wrote to (I detest the default IIS "browse" pages).

Keeping it FREE!

I got scolded for using Titan, because it is not free.( I found it when I
did a search for free ftp servers). I then looked into WarFTP, but I got
scared at the author's confessed absence of security. So, I am willing to
post the ed2k-links for emule, if anyone is interested. Other than that, it
will have to be snail-mail at the end of the month.

Excellent choice IMO. Aklso, from:
http://www.bpftpserver.com/download.php

"Try BPFTP Server for FREE Now!
You can try a fully functional version FREE for 15 days, it takes
just minutes to download and setup. You'll have access to free
e-mail support and our online and in-program help should you need
it, but BulletProof also means user friendly!"

Is 15 days enough to distribute one CD ?

Probably. Trialware is not freeware however and so is OT here.

HTH newbie.

Search AND download over multiple P2P networks for the MOST results
with TrustyFiles 2.3 High Performance File Sharing. Grab hundreds of
millions of files on the Kazaa, Gnutella/2, and Bit Torrent file
sharing networks. TrustyFiles is FREE with NO spyware & NO added

4.x,Windows2000,WinXP,Windows2003

Running TrustyFiles
http://trustyfiles.com/help-use-pers.php
1. Share files with anyone on the public P2P network.
TrustyFiles automatically shares files in the Downloads directory and
other directories you specify with the public P2P network.

2. Download files from friends in 1 click.
When a friend sends you a file or search, you'll receive an email
with a TrustyLink. Just click it! That's all you need do.

Your TrustyFiles automatically starts up if it's not running. If your
friend sent a search, TrustyFiles connects to the P2P networks and
runs that search. If your friend sent a file, TrustyFiles makes a
direct connection to your friend's computer to try to download the
file. In addition TrustyFiles will check the P2P network for more
sources and download from them also.

3. Share files with friends.
TrustyFiles can share a file or a search in 2 simple steps.

Share a file
1A. From search results, downloads, or My Files click any file in
TrustyFiles. Then click Send at the bottom of the page, or
1B. Right click any file. Select 'Share with a friend' and then
'Send a File TrustyLink'.
2. A web page displays with the file information. Enter your and
your friend's email addresses and click Send. An email with a file
TrustyLink is sent to your friend

Share a search
1A. Click Send at the top of the TrustyFiles search results
display, or
1B. Right click any file. Select 'Share with a friend' and then
'Send a Search for similar files'.
2. A web page displays with the search or file information. Edit the
keywords. See keywords tips at the right. Enter your and your
friend's email addresses and click Send. An email with a search
TrustyLink is sent to your friend

When you send a file TrustyLink, the link includes your computer's
Internet (IP) address. If you have a dynamic Internet address and go
offline, your Internet address may change and you'll need to resend
the TrustyLink. See Advanced Network Settings for more information.
