Hello

We are using Windows 2000 Server, FTP for our departments and their outside
vendors. We have built several Virtual Directories and User Accounts (Local)
on this server and have plans to add several more.
What is the maximum number of Virtual Directories and local user accounts
which can be created on the server?
Additionally, are there any other limitations which I should be aware of
before continuing any further?

Thanks for your help.

There is no predetermined limit for the number of local user accounts and I
suspect this is also true of Virtual Directories. The only practical limit
will be the spec of your server as each of these will take up hard disk
space and other resources.

The main thing to keep in mind when using FTP is that it is an inherently
insecure protocol with passwords being passed over the wire in plaintext. If
you wouldn't like to have any of these accounts hacked you may wish to
consider using SSL or IPSec to encrypt your FTP traffic.

I agree.

How many Virtual Directories are we talking about? Our intranet servers
have hundreds ;-)
