Help

Hi All,
When trying to connect to a FTP Server in a Windows
operating system the system returns the following message
Micrososft Windows 2000 [version 2.x.xx]
How is it possible to hide those information in the
server. Is there to edit any registry values. Can someone
help in explaining the sequence of steps to be done for
this.
Thanks

OK. Having said that (official version) I will also say that this IS
possible but I will stress that it is NOT supported by Microsoft and it
could make FTP service unstable...

OK. Microsoft has some tools that will allow to edit .dll (and exe, ...)
files. This tools are called RLTools and are available to download from
Microsoft.

You can use this tools to edit "Ftpsvc2.dll" and all the messages inside
that are hardcoded. Not that applying SP to your system may change your
custom changed "Ftpsvc2.dll" to MS specified values ... so you might have to
change them again...

No, this is not possible (at least not in an way that would be easy and
supported by Microsoft).

Step 1) Install third party FTP software

I think you also have to disable Windows File Protection
for this to work.
