Ftp have to try twice

I have created a link on our website to our FTP server. The FTP site requires
authentication. When someone clicks the link it tells them the page cannot be
displayed. If you click Go, or refresh or enter it brings the site up. What
is happening on the first try? Is there a way that I can add an automatic
refresh so that it comes up instead of manually having to refresh it. Or what
is a better way of getting this accomplished so the users get the Ftp login
right away.
I have the link setup as ftp://ip address. I dont know if that makes a
difference.

You should be using <a HREF="ftp://ftp.IPaddresshere/">FTP</a>

Stefan,
Thanks for your response this is what the html shows.
<a HREF="ftp://66.129.101.138/">Catmando Adjusters </a>.
Please visit www.catmandoinc.com and click on the Catmando Adjusters link at
the bottom of the page. Once it says cannot be displayed then hit enter again
and then it takes you to the login screen.

When I click on your link as is (ftp://66.129.101.138/) I get straight to the FPT login screen w/o an issue
Check your IE settings to enable FTP folder view and passive FTP
