How do you work around this problem when W2K is generating
dynamic Port numbers to connect to an FTP site?
Thanks.

Can you be more specific?

What do you mean by dynamic ports? Are you saying the port changes
(generally I've only seen IP changes, i.e. for DSL or DialUp users, but
never a port change.)

If you're running the FTP server, try to disable the dynamic ports. There
really is no point in that, assuming you have set a hard-to-guess password
on any FTP accounts.

If you're the client, i'd suggest that you call the dude who owns the server
and yell "WTF?!" as loud as you can. :)

In windows explorer, assuming the site uses port 21:

ftp://sitename.domain:21/ <=== Type this into your address bar.

basically, this forces the connection to be on port 21...

I believe i made a reply earlier and didn't hit "to group" so i think this
reply is probably more like the answer
