ftp connection problems

I use Dreamweaver to upload files to my website but recently when i try to
connect it says ftp error cannot connect to host. I have diasbled all virus
and firewall software and tried to connect to no avail. I have reinstalled
dreamweaver 4 and even dowloaded dreamweaver 8 trial version but still no
luck. I have gone through dreamweaver check list and still no joy. However,
I went to microsoft updates and downloaded a security patch again called
KB890830. I was then able to connect. However, the next day the problem
came back, no 'connection to host'. My girlfriend connects to the internet
via my pc's MSI wireless adapter, don't know if there has anything to do with
it. In short I'm fed up! I can only think its a problem with internet
explorer. Please help. Thank you

How you tried a diffrent ftp client?
 
yes i have tries cuteftp but still does not work. However, i disabled my
broadband shared connection with my girlfriends laptop and it worked. But it
means my girlfriend cannot upload to website with her laptop..
