Hi,

I'm trying to use FSX, but I can not make any flight that are more than
60minutes, after 60minutes FSX crash with a message that it has run out of
memory, and that I should lower my video

I have an Nvidia 8800GTS with 640Mb of RAM, and the computer has 4Gb of RAM,
and when it crashes the memory is barely at 30% utilisation

BTW the Video settings are 1600X1200X16

I checked the link below, and it does not give anything as to how to fix the
problem

Maybe I should've mention that I'm using Vista Ultimate 64Bit, so the 2Gb is
not an issue here

1) Check your virtual memory setting and see if it is at max. I had a
problem some time ago with a Photoshop program that kept giving me out of
mem errors. Turns out I had gone from 1GB to 2GB RAM but XP did not readjust
the virtual memory. Manually bumping it up to max resolved the issue. I don't
know if the same applies to Vista but worth a try. I am on vista now (new
PC) with 3GB RAM( added 1GB recently) and an 8800GTS card but have not tried
FSX yet to see if I have issues.

2) Some report using 16 bit instead of 32 bit in the video settings of FSX
may solve the problem.

3) Majority of the errors seem related to 8800 series cards as well so as
usual make sure you have the latest drivers

Good luck and would love to know when you resolve it

I was going to suggest this patch, fixed some issues for me, I hear it's for
system with a lot of ram and stuff. Might just go to microsoft.com and find
the FSX support site, they might have troubleshooting for this problem.

BTW, why are you running the game at 16bit color? Since Quake 3 I can't live
without 32-bit color.

I run it at 32. I only offered it as a tip which some users said solved
their out of memory problems

I'm running 16bit for the color, because i allows me to play a little
longer, if I use the 32bit color FSX crashes after about 15min

The "Out of Memory" dialogue box, is it in the game? or Windows giving you
this error.

I use FSX without any expansions on a GF9400GT with 512MB. Also after some
time it gives me a LOW SYSTEM MEMORY ERROR. I have 3GB RAM installed, SO my
guess is that the Graphics card`s lack of space has something to do with
this....
