A clean install of Vista Ultimate. The only application installed was AVG
Anti Virus. Installed FSX and there is no icon in Start > All Programs. I
then try to install a 3rd party app and it tells me that there is no
registry entry for FSX.

I was able to install FSUIPC4. Flight simulator DOES run. Weird.

Any ideas?

Look in "Games Explorer".

Start orb/Games

It is in there. I guess I expected there to be a Microsoft Games directly
off the start menu like it is on my other computer and with ever other
install I have done of this program. Now to find out why this 3rd party app
says there is no registry entry for FSX.

Thanks.

Which application is this?

The 3rd party app is called It's Your Plane. I am working with the maker to
determine what the issue is.

Keep in mind that Microsofts official "new" way of doing things is to have
NO program menu entries at all for games. The only way you know the game is
installed is to look in the Games Explorer and to see any options you
right-click on the icon. Expect to see a lot of new games start adopting
this paradigm.

On a personal note, since the startmenu is now crippled and difficult to
use, I suppose its the best system. IMHO Forcing all the menus and items
into a small scrolling list is a giant step backward...and expecting me to
type in the name of the app every time so it can "find" it quickly is
preposterous.
