I just noticed this on Overclockers. I have never heard of fsp sparkle, but this looks like a good psu.

I was wondering your opinions as to whether the Seasonic or the FSP is better?

I am looking at the 600W versions.

From what i can tell the Seasonic has 30A 12 volt rail whereas the FSP has 4 12 volt rails. which is strange. Also the FSP has an 85% efficiency. Apparently...

I was really wondering if anyone has any experience with this brand, and if they are worth giving my money to?

Yes, first came across Sparkle in graphic cards ... could not tell you, without some research, if FSP Sparkle are the same company.

Their Cards were good, affordable & reliable. :thumb:

Go for Tagan, Antec or Enermax in muy opinion. They've all been doing it at the highest level for much longer.

Why not pick up a Hiper 580w (which is really a 630w peak PSU) Type R as most poeple have come across them and know that they are damn good. Cheap too!

They are HALF that price, and fully modular...yes they are silent too. The coolest thing is the box they come in!!!!

The 580w Type R Modular one....

They come in a few colours, but thats up to you. I have the black one, but the UV one looks cool!

Hello? ... yes, I'd like a quote on my car please ... huh!, it's red ... huh! it's a red hatchback.

How the hell do I know what the engine is, what year, what what ... well I think red is nice, goodbye!

PINK, any yellow ones ... I like yellow. :D

lol mucks

so is modular worth it? and what kind of efficiency are we looking at here?

i just looked at a few reviews on it, and most of them think it's awkward to fit devices to, and that the rails all run high.

did you notice any of these problems ot anything else?

Modular definatly worth it. I own one of these, makes things so much tidier!

Roughly 75% efficiency at full load, and will proviide more power than the rated 580w momentarily, should you need it.

That advert always made me laugh too ... plonkers, I have yet to phone an insurance company up and get a quote for a red hatchback. They hang up!

What are we taking about

oh, yeah, PSUs ... word of mouth works wonders around here, though I would probably go with ... what my MB needs and be sure I have some spare leftoverheads.

My computer is running fine. My 3.3v line is...well... 3.3v! All other voltages read fine too.. .

Runs real stable

hmmm. Seeing as my system will probably eat electricity quite alot, is there any other way i can increase efficiency?

to get near 99% effciency you have to use superconductors at absolute 0 (-273C) for the transformers which isn't exactly practical and damn expensive, the only way to use less power is to use components that dont need so much power

bah ok.

proposed system will be:

x PSU
Athlon 3700+
2x Hitatchi t7k250 drives
LG dvd/cd re writer/reader etc
floppy drive
nVidia 7800gtx/ equivalent ati x1900 series
possible sli later on
Asus a8n-sli premium
1gb Crucial Ballistix, possible 2gb depending on how much i have left over

think thats it

I know it will not use 580W of power, but it needs a substantial amount of power and as the seasonic has 80% efficiency and the fsp 85%, im unsure.
I want a base that can be upgraded without trouble for a few years, so i want a psu that will be powerful enough to take a more powerful cpu/gfx card if needs be.

I only had to get the gfx card and then i could have started building, but now i need to spend some of that money on a new psu :(

yeah.

1 more thing - how big is the hiper? I need to fit it inside a Tsunami Dream case, and people have had problems fitting a large psu in the case?

You got no probs there my brother has a tsunami dream case and he has a Hiper 580watt modular psu and it went in no problem at all...:D

Dude I have a Tsunami Dream and a Hiper TypeR

Its the same size as any other ATX psu...

The tsunami dreams mounting holes are a bit weird so you might be able to only get 2 screws in, but thats cool because it has a resting panel it leans on.
