Hello All,

I'd think this an easy question but am still not finding two of the 5 roles
for my A.D. If I right click on our domain (one forest/one domain) in ADUC
and click Operations Masters I can plainly see the RID, PDC emulator and
Infrastructure Operation Masters. Where do you look to see the Schema and
Domain Naming Operation Masters?

Thanks in advance, just a simple thing that is buggin' me........ :-)

Paul

The Schema Master and Domain Naming Master FSMO roles only exist in the
forest root domain.

Regards,
Greg

To find Domain Naming master,
Open Active Directory Domain and Trusts snapin, right
click Active Directory domains and trusts, and click
Operations Masters.

How to Determine the Schema FSMO Holder in a Forest
Click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then click OK.
On the Console menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in, click Add,
double-click Active Directory Schema, click Close, and
then click OK.
Right-click Active Directory Schema in the top left pane,
and then click Operations Masters to view the server
holding the schema master role.

For more information, please look at article 234790 from
the microsoft knowledge base.

Hope this helps,

joh

Good references. You can also see this information by
running

netdom query fsmo

from the command line.

Thanks, Tony!

That is actually the way that I do it....but that requires
the Support Tools to be installed ( which I do on every
server )....Did not want to confuse him. And since the
Support Tools are installed ( once he does ), he can take
a look at REPLMON as well...
