Frustrating Copy/Paste Problem

I thought I posted this message yesterday, however, I couldn't find. I hope I'm not repeating myself, sorry if I am

We upgraded from Word95 to Word2000 back in June. Since then, we have experienced a frustrating copy and paste issue that only effects about 13 out of 100 users. When a user copies text from one document to another, they some times lock up. At first we thought it only happened to people who used the Window option to toggle back and forth between documents. However, we have found that some people lock up when they toggle between documents using the bottom toolbar, and others have locked up when using Ctrl/F6. Has anyone had this problem?

Hi CJCL62

Failing other suggestions, I would suspect a corrupt template, possibly
normal.dot. To test this out, exit Word. Then Start > Run. Type
winword.exe /a (note the space before the /a). That loads Word without
loading any global templates, and using a default normal.dot. If the
users don't experience the problem in these circumstances, then look to
normal.dot or other templates for the source of the problem. Exit Word,
find normal.dot and re-name as oldnormal.dot. Re-start Word, which will
create a new normal.dot. You can copy any old macros, styles, toolbars
and autotexts from oldnormal.dot to the new normal.dot.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Shauna for the reply.

I ran your answer by the IT person that is overseeing the problem. She indicated that unfortunately, all of our Normal.dots were created from the same one. So since not everyone is having the problem, we don't think that's it. If you can think of anything else, we would love to hear from you.
