I've heard that the first version of FruityLoops is available as freeware,
but I can't find it anywhere - only links to crack sites, which I *don't*
want.

Anyone have a link to a legit freeware FruityLoops? (does one even exist?)

It's buried on the flstudio.com web site. It shows a simple link as an FYI
that says to check it out to see how far flstudio has come.
 
Thanks for the links, Sean! Just downloaded it and it seems it doesn't run
under XP :( When launching the .exe file all I get is the fruity title
page/logo...Don't suppose you know of a similar pattern based freeware
sequencer ?

I seem to remember a few of them existing from a while back. You might look
for "Hammerhead". I think that was the name of a good one.

Hi

Thanks again for the suggestion - I've used Hammerhead in the past. Whilst
it's a good software drum machine, it unfortunately doesn't send midi-out.
What I'm looking for is a simple sequencer that can send midi-out messages
(note on/off, control meesages). I should have made that clearer before.
Fruity 1 would have been fine for this had it worked with XP :(

Ok, this may be overkill, but it does have full Midi IN/OUT and works with
Windows 98, 2000, and XP. It uses a Tracker interface though. But you
still might like it. I hope this works, 'cause I'm running out of ideas.
