Hi folks...have a question...or 2
I have 2 W2K3 servers, 2 nics each
They are load balanced for web stuff on one set of nics.
They place and grab files from a DFS set that uses FRS in the
background.
One of the computers is the domain controller.
There are at this time over 100,000 files in the DFS linked folder,
each file is placed on GUID directory structure (30 directories deep
for each file)
When I shoot up 1....maybe 20 files in a batch the replication is
quick and easy, I can retrieve a file in a second or 2.....but when I
try to prime the pump and start sending 200-1000 files in a
batch...frs chokes hard. It took a weekend to replicate 4 cd's worth
of images.
Is there anything I can do to speed up replication after a batch load?
I eventually will be filling this sucker with 30 million or so
files...can it handle this?
Is there anything I can do to optimize performance?
Is the number of files in the cache folder a true representation of
load?
When I access the share from each member of the set, why do I get
different file counts?
If DFS/FRS isn't going to be able to accomidate me, do you have any
suggestions for 3rd party apps?
