Scenario...
I have 2 W2K domain controllers for the same domain in separate sites.
I have shares set up on server A with a DFS root and appropriate links
to the shares. I would like to replicate the DFS root to server B so
that users in site B can access the DFS share in site B and use that
to navigate to site A shares.
This doesn't seem to be working. The sharenames get replicated to site
B, but if I double-click on any of the links they don't show the files
on server A.
Do I need to enable replication from both ends of the link, from what
I've read it seems to suggest that enabling from server A alone should
be enough.
For the avoidance of doubt: I don't want to replicate the actual files
from A to B, just the links.

Thanks for any input.

Did you create the replica in DFS Manager?

You must of course be using an "Enterprise" (not Standalone)
DFS Root and you must have the "Shares" on the replica available
before you do the DFS setup.

Then you must set the replication to "automatic" (again in DFS
Manager).

DFS is manual by default; Standalone DFS does not support
"root replicas" (nor automatic replication at all.)
For the avoidance of doubt: I don't want to replicate the actual files
from A to B, just the links.

For an Enterprise Root, the links are already replicated to every DC;
for a Standalone Root you cannot replicate since this is kept in a single
server's registry.

Enterprise DFS Roots might better be called "AD DFS roots."
