Frozen VISTA RC1

Thought that I had a good installation from XP media to VISTA RC1 and then
when the VISTA Ultimate screen showed all I had to do was to click next.
Problem is that it does not recognize neither the keyboard or the mouse. I
cannot do anything no matter how many times that I reboot. What is going on?

System hardware specifications including what kind of mouse/keyboard?
 
HP Intel Pentium 4 w 512MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM 1600GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA Hard
drive. All of the equipment came with the original box, no add-ons except the
external hard drive X. I cannot get more specifications because I cannot get
on-line and I cannot complete the installation because I cannot get the mouse
to move or the keyboard to recognize. They both flash when plugs are pulled,
but the keyboard only allows generally just the enter button. When I checked
the last of the drivers that was loaded was

In safe mode it says that the installation is not complete, but it cannot
complete when I cannot get the PC to recognize the "NEXT" click to complete.
Safe mode indicated that the last driver that was installed was
"windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys" I cannot use the HP help desks because
this is not supported anywhere, by anyone.
