Hello group,

if a workbook is opened in more than one windows, frozen zones of the sheets in each additional window are not active/not working..
When closing the excel application the setting even gets lost as last window saved is not the "original" window.

Is any workaround known?

Is there any reason why the last window saved is not the original
window? This would preserve the freeze panes setting if it were the
original window.

Hope this helps.

The reason is, that the user does not care which window to close first and which last. He just confirms "save", not knowing that
anything ist spoiled. Would you have known?

Well, the original window will have a :1 after the filename in the
header, and subsequent windows will have :2. :3 etc.

I do find it irritating of Excel not to continue with the freeze panes
settings when you open multiple windows to the same file, but I
haven't come across a way around it.You can, of course, set freeze
panes in those subsequent windows.

Hope this helps.

Fine. Just say how.

Click on the second (or subsequent) window, move your cursor to the
cell below and to the right of where you want the frozen panes to be,
and click on View | Freeze Panes | Freeze Panes if you are using XL
2007.

Hope this helps.
