On Bootup, tho not consistently, the pointer is locked in center
screen and can't be moved.

Rebooting, sometimes twice, resets the problem and all is then ok.

Would appreciate info on what might cause and is there a more
permanent fix??

TIA
Gette

Probably a startup program or service that is (inconsistently) hanging the
system or being unable to start properly. If you leave the system (let's say
for 30 minutes) after rebooting and then come back, does the mouse move?
Does the same thing happen in safe mode?

I've experienced similar problems, and I feel they may be caused
by a damaged file or storage area. Running defrag followed by
chkdsk is generally a good idea.

Gette.....

I have the same problem but I think it may be mouse related. My problem
started when I got a new (cheap) mouse a while back. Restarting the computer
always works...but that's a pain.

Another option was "hibrinating" the computer when I shut down. The mouse
always came back when I restarted. But, for some reaon, the "hibrinating"
option isn't being offered any more and I don't know why. Any ideas about
that?

Have you found any other solutions?

Eric
