Frozen mouse during XP "repair" install

While doing a "repair" reinstall of XP Pro my mouse froze
up. The install completed and my desktop looks exactly as
before but the mouse is still frozen.

Would appreciate any ideas on solving this problem besides
doing a new reinstalling and losing everything. Thanks.
 
Frank, if you have a PS2 to USB converter you can try whichever one you
haven't been using.
