frozen HD with xp

i installed xp on my pc, then put it on MY 2nd (networked)pc , but to my AMAZMENT, it stopped access on my harddrive n pc#2 due to the warning "can't have xp on another pc " ...needless to say , now i have to get the files off my harddrive(pc#2) to reformat it...how can i do this? , or is microsoft gonna take me for a hard drive by rendering this HD unaccessable ?? Thanks for the hel
 
Grab a 98 bootdisk from here
http://www.bootdisk.com/
use it to boot and format your HD
then reload your old OS
and everything else
Guess you should have read the fine print where it said ONE computer only!!

Amazement? The rule is quite clear. It's one copy (or one
license) for each computer.

There's nothing new here. This is exactly the same rule that's
been in effect on every version of Windows starting with Windows
3.1. The only thing new with XP is that there's now an
enforcement mechanism.
 
Or go to the store and buy another copy of WinXP. Do a repair install
on the 2nd PC. This should retain your data.
