I have a Liteon DVD-ROM LTD163 dvd drive, running XP pro SP1, athlon XP+
1700 with 512Mb ram. My GFX card is NVidia GeForce MX440 (not very good i
know) and has the lastest drivers installed

I have been able to play all my DVDs perfectly, using Power DVD, and tried
to play a DVD but it didnt work. It just stopped at a particular scene, and
stops at the same place each time. sometimes the DVD drive reports the error
"TheTV Out port of your display card is not working properly" even though
nothing is connected to the tv out port, and everthing (i assume) is set up
correctly. I have tried rolling back the Nvidia drivers, and gettin the
latest version, but doesnt seem to solve the problem!

No no, its Final Fantasy: The spirits within and its not scratched, a) i
checked, its fine, because b)
its brand new :-)

i read somewhere (in google) that rollin back ur driver might help wiv it,
but it didnt work. shall see if its dusty inside. where i can get a DVD
laser lens
cleanin kit or sumfin similar?

If its any help, the DVD is in widescreed, Maybe the window isnt set up
correctly?

also, if u think it cud be the DVD player that is not up to scratch (no punb
intended) then cud u reccomend a decent one (cheap tho!) ?

Have you tried the DVD in another DVD player to make sure that it is OK.
Espcially if it's brand new, make sure it's good so that you can return it
for an exchange before time runs out.

Also, I just have to comment on this... why did you go from writing like a
normal adult to something a child would (or should I say.. wud) write?
After reading it twice, I know what you intended to write, but why make us
have to translate, just use proper english already.

Posted 'as is'. If there are any spelling and/or grammar mistakes, they
were a direct result of my fingers and brain not being synchronized or my

It may be that your DVD drive needs cleaning. On some new DVDs the
publishers are pushing the maximum disk data content. I had an other recent
DVD that would play on my computer but not my main DVD player. Routine
cleaning {using a CD/DVD cleaning disk} did not help. Having DVD player
opened, by a technician, and cleaning the lens fixed the problem.

Have you tried a different DVD?
Just because it's new does not mean it is good.
There have been plenty of DVDs released into the market that had
invisible flaws that would make them lock up just as you have described.
I have a 101 Dalmatians DVD that would not play at all in a
brand new DVD player or my computer, but would play just fine in a Sony
Playstation.
I took it back and got a replacement and the replacement worked just fine.

scratched,

I hired this DVD out before, and it didnt work, so took it back, and got a
hire replacement. this didnt work either, but after blowing some dust out it
did. I bought this, blew the dust out, and it doesn't work.

Try a different movie. If it's the same movie on different DVD's, it could
be a bad pressing.
Unfortunetly this does happen on occassion. :-(

well, ive tried my DVD out on mates comp (he has a rage ATI pro 128) and it
works fine, all nice and smooth, which is unfortunate.

I am going to try and use a lens cleaner, and see if that makes any
difference, if not, then its back to the shops for a new DVD player! not yet
tho, as all my other DVDs work perfectly fine in this drive
