Frozen desktop w/beta version

It appears that the Beta version has locked up my PC. I
cannot open any application - I just get a busy
hourglass. When I shut down, I get the msg that the Giant
software is not responding.
Any ideas?
Can I restart in safe mode, remove the software and
anything that calls it from the registry, then re-install
it?
Right now, I can't do anything with the PC at all.
 
Resatart in safe mode and run it from there. See what happens. You might
want to download a copy of ccleaner from www.ccleaner.com to clean out all
you temp files and help speed the scan process along.
