POOKS

I have been sitting here trying to get my cursor to move.
I have no idea how it locked up. I have shut down and
rebooted. I have restored my computer to yesterday. I
have replugged my mouse and still nothing is happening.
Can someone help. I hate using keystrokes for everything.

Your problem might be with your mouse. If yours looks like mine mine being a
LogiTech), the roll ball has a flange around it that holds the ball in the
socket. There's a small indent hole in the flange that you use to twist it one
quarter turn. At that point, you can remove the flange, and then the ball out
of the socket. You'll find two or three pads inside the socket that might be
covered with lint/fuzz. Brush those pads clean and reassemble your mouse and
see if that doesn't solve your problem.

My cursor was not frozen, merely non-responsive in largest part, and that was
the fix I used to correct it. I hope it works for you.

Just a thought, but you might check to make sure that your mouse cable has
not became unplugged from the back of your computer. Try pushing it back in
and check again. I hope this helps, because that has happened to me before.

Have you checked in the Device Manager to see whether a conflict is
indicated? control panel \ system \ hardware \ device manager
Usually there's an obvious symbol indicating that something is wrong.

My next suggestion would be that you remove the mouse (not the
category), then reboot and let Windows reinstall it for you. It's not
a bad idea to first locate the drivers. Speaking of which, do you have
a recent mouse driver for that brand, intended for XP?

Something else: Have you tried a different mouse?
