I have used this program for years. I can upload to one webpage that is
existing but not to a new one on a new service. I'm following their
directions at Adelphia.net and Nothing is working. Using their Techs I have
found that I can log onto the FTP url using my password but not using
FrontPage98. It still works for my old page. I've had 3 webpages using direct
connect and changing it on the server directly and I have used UPLOAD once my
page is designed. Everything works until I get to the username and password.

Thanks

Adelphia uses UNIX servers. If they are running FP 2002 server extensions,
FP 98 is not supported.

And if you still want to use FP98, then you must get a Windows IIS web host.

Ok, then what is a WindowsIIS web host and where does one get it? I'm going
to find out if they support 98. They have a link on their website when I type
in what is supposed to be my web address. http://users.adelphia.net/~hess55
It shows FP98 information.

A Windows IIS web host is a hosting service that has servers available that run Microsoft Windows
2000 or 2003 Server with the Microsoft IIS web server.

To find a Windows Web Host, type the following in the browser address bar:

The thing is, when you type in my webpage url you are redirected to
instructions on how to use FP98. they don't even show FP 2000 or 2003.

Having looked at those instructions, I would recommend a new host.
The instructions were updated in 2003, and they still do not mention
FP2000, or 2002?
I am unable to check which version of extensions are installed (if
any), but if they are the latest 2002 extensions you cannot use FP98.
The latest FP2002 extensions on Unix are not compatible with FrontPage
98, whatever the web site says.

Well, I can't change my server. It's the only fast server I can use in my
area. I just went to Adelphia cable from a dial-up. I will probably either
have to purchase a new Front Page, which as a retiree is a little steep, or I
will have to use an FTP sofware to upload. I'm familiar with using FTP I just
don't want to spend more money. I may just have to nix having a personal
webpage. I'll look at the new software now just to see what $$ we're talking
about. Thank you so much for all of your answers.

Unless the server you are using is very low cost/free, why stay in
your area?
I live in UK, but my personal web site is hosted in California -
better cost, features and service than I could get in UK..
