FrontPage2003: The folder "name" isn't accessible. Error Message

I just installed FrontPage 2003 and cannot create a new web site. I click on
file-new and from the new web site template I choose a one page web site,
then click on browse button and go to the location c:\documents and
settings\username\my documents\my websites when I click on the Open button
the following error occurs:
"The folder "name" isn't accessible." The folder may be located on an
unavailable location, protected with a password, or the filename contains s /
or \
It's like FrontPage does not have access to my local hard drive. I also
tried creating a new site in different directory locations. I am able to
write to these locations using other software packages, like MS Word or
Excel, but not with Front Page.
Any ideas?

Create the folder on HD first in Windows Explorer/My Computer, then have FP open this folder and
allow it to convert the folder to a web.

Yes, this worked, but this seems rather odd that you have to create it
manually outside of FrontPage, then go into FrontPage and then select a
template to associate the directory with it. This is not the way it is
documented in the Step by Step guide published by Microsoft. Do you know if
this is a bug with the 2003 product?

The folder "http://Website" isn't accessible. The folder may be

located on an unavailable volume or protected with a password.

I am just in the habit of creating folders first when I need to create disk-based web or on a
server, create the folder then convert to subweb / site within a FP enabled web site.

I also seem to get the message:
The folder 'http://www.envirocaddie.com/' isn't accessible. The folder may
be located in an unavailable location, protected with a password, or the
filename contains a / or\

every time I try to open an existing website that I created with FP2000.
I upgraded to FP2003 and have not been able to either of my sites.
Any ideas???

Browse to your site in IE at http://www.envirocaddie.com/ and use File Edit w/ FP

I did and can edit it this way, however, when I try to browse a directory it
tell me that it is no longer accessible. Makes it hard to change backgrounds
and add links

Explain
Once the site is open you can't open a directory in Folder List?

That is correct, once the site is opened, the directory list is still not
accessible. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the extensions at my host's
server and still FP2003 cannot access. The funny thing is that I tried it on
my laptop that has FP2000 and it works fine. FP 200 from my brother's machine
works ok also. It seems to be an issue with FP2003. I uninstalled 2003 and
reinstalled 2000 and the site editing is fine, it's only wen I use 2003 that
I cannot access the directories. Any idea??? I am just about to give up on
2003
