Can a website be viewed as a presentation? I have about 8 pages I would like
to display as a slide show.

What do you mean Subject: Frontpage ???

If you're talking PowerPoint --- do this: Insert menu > Web Pages >
follow the rest questions (this answer your 1st part).

If your 8 pages are links to each others then it is possible to open
in one single slides and must be placed at the last end.

Good luck,

If the pages can just be static, then you can use screenshots and place the
images on the slides. Alt+PrtScrn to capture the window, then in PPT use
Ctrl+V to paste the image. (Open PPT before you do the Alt+PrtScrn, because
sometimes addins and other things wipe out the clipboard when you open PPT,
so you may not get the image when you paste if you don't open PPT first.)

If the pages need to be live, then check Shyam's free add-in, LiveWeb.

PowerPoint offers the function 'saving in html-Format" (save as...- file
type: html). Your slides will be converted and shown in a browser as a
presentation with a navigation bar. PowerPoint animations will not be shown.

That depends on your browser, the version of PowerPoint and your Publish To Web
settings. Some animations/transitions can be shown (though in my experience,
never as smoothly as they'd appear in PPT itself).
