How do I set global settings?

I make improvements on my web page, and it looks good.
Then I pull up the site on another computer and fonts,
lines, photos are out of position.

Is preview, really preview what it should be on the web?
If so, why doesn't it work for me. Is thee a global
setting I am missing?

Thanks for any help,
Martin

There are no global setting to make your pages look the
same across all computers. Why the differences across
comptuers?

If the computer does not have the fonts you specified on
your web pages, it will substitute a different font.

If the computer has a different web browser or different
web browser version than the one you use, it may interpret
your pages differently.

If you position your text and photos so they go across the
entire page (as opposed to placing the text in a table of
a narrow width) then the text will wrap differntly
depending on the monitors' resolution. Text will wrap
differently on an 800 x 600 resolution versus a higher
resolution.

The user may monkey with your font sizes by adjusting them
in his browser settings (View > Text Size > Larger).

These are some of the factors that complicate our work,
but there are workarounds to all of these.
Specify standard fonts. Use graphics for fonts that are
not standard.
Put text and graphics in a table no wider than 768 pixels.
