I upload files to my site using FTP and then make changes
using FrontPage. When I go to save the changes I get the
following error:
Server error cannot open
file "users/ensys/www/htdocs/index.html.tmp" for writing

I call my ISP and they double my allocation so that I can
save my page in FrontPage. My 12MB site is now allocated
at 400MB. Is there a known problem in FrontPage?

Hello,
Someone else might know more about this, however it is never recommended mixing FTP with the Frontpage extensions. When FTP'ing the files, you loose the FP specific file information it needs to keep track of everything. I would guess probably 80 percent of most FP extension problems is people using standard FTP to upload and then wanting to use FP extensions later on. When using FP extensions, it is always best to use the "publish to web" feature in FP. I would bet if you republished the site using nothing but FP, it would resolve your problem.

DennisL is absolutely right about not using FTP to get
your files to your ISP however in order to publish your
web using FrontPage your ISP must have the FrontPage
extensions loaded.

What type of host are you using, NT, Unix, or other? Do
they have the server extensions? Are you editing the page
on your local machine or on the server?
